oval, gilt-metal mount with stamped surround, within rectangular wood frame applied with two glazed oval reserves containing locks of hair, gilt-metal surrounds engraved 'Charles Ferdinand 13 Fevrier 1820.' and 'Caroline Ferdinande 14 Fevrier 1820.', gilt-metal plaque engraved 'Donné à Mgr l'Evêque de Chartres, Par S.A.R. Madame la Dsse de Berry', and gilt fleur-de-lys spandrels
