With thread margins or trimmed on the plate mark 3 sides and just inside the plate mark lower margin, with the inscription preserved. A brilliant, early and richly-inked impression of this large, important etching, with the boldly shaded foreground and the tonal nuances throughout the image distinct.
According to Lieure, early impressions such as this, in the first state, are extremely scarce, "Malheureusement le cuivre était sans doute trop tendre, il ne donna qu'un très petit nombre de très belles épreuves, devenues extrêmement rare aujourd'hui."
